Forty years ago on January 15, 1973, President Richard Nixon ordered a ceasefire on the aerial bombings in North Vietnam, essentially marking the beginning of the end of the United States’ involvement in a war that cost both sides dearly – both financially and physically. Even though the price was too high for the mistakes to be repeated, Washington’s foreign policy in recent years is making many wonder if history is repeating itself in wars such as those in Iraq and Afghanistan
